Pear Santamaria

Santa Maria is the early pear, ready in late July when nothing else in the pear house is. Thin-skinned, juicy, and sweet rather than aromatic — it sells on being first, and it does not wait.

Because the skin is thin, fruit is packed straight into single-layer trays at the orchard and pre-cooled the same day. Shelf life is measured in weeks, not months.
