Pear Deveci

Deveci is the pear Turkey keeps for itself and for buyers who know it: large, pale yellow, and unusually resistant to the bruising that ends most pear shipments. It comes off the tree in September and stores into spring.

The variety is picked hard and mature but not ripe — a Deveci that softens on the branch has already lost the storage life that makes it worth shipping.
